Three Month Countdown

Yesterday marked the 3 month countdown to the Fall 2011 Bikram Teacher Training. If I don’t make the most out of everyday, summer will pass by in a brink of time and I’ll be on a plane to LAX. Last month slipped right by and I can’t let this happen for the remaining months. There are no good excuses so I shouldn’t explain the why’s and just focus on the how’s moving forward.

All the soon-to-be Fall 2011 trainees have 3 months to focus on 2 things: practice and dialogue. Sounds simple right? But I haven’t been able to devote the right amount of time to my practice and dialogue. I hate to admit that there were other priorities in my life in the last month that interfered with my Teacher Training preparation. On the other hand, my fellow soon-to-be trainees have all been great with their preparation and they all have been so inspiring.  So what’s wrong with me? Is work really draining that much out of me? Or am I a true procrastinator at heart? Whatever it is I’m not impressed, I need to snap out of it and get my act together now.

I’m going to be brutally honest with myself and ‘spell-out’ what I need to do from now to September:

DO’s & DON’T's

DON’T practice 3-4 times a week.

DO practice 5-6 times (throw in 2 doubles each month).

DON’T make up excuses like “I want to practice beside my boyfriend” or “I’m not feeling my best” or  ”it’s a 6am class”  to practice in the front of the class (cool area).

DO park your mat on the hottest spot (heat acclimatization is so important- rumor has it that the Spring 2011 TT’s temperature in the hot room was at its record high). DO treat yourself to the front once in awhile so you can compare the improvements.

DON’T play it by ear when it comes to your dialogue practice.

DO make a schedule for dialogue practice.

More DO’s

DO overcome your “late-bloomer” pose (Standing Head to Knee) and touch your forehead to your knee by September 18th

DO memorize your Standing Series dialogue by July 18th

DO memorize your Floor Series dialogue by August 18th

DO perfect dialogue by September 18th

I’ll be reporting my Teacher Training preparation progress in a month. I want to hold myself accountable for the goals I’ve made and be scrutinized if I don’t.

Namaste,

Tiffany xoxo

Nice deadlines. I need to make some myself, so far I’ve been one posture a week till I went on holidays and fell behind.

oww I’m with ya on late blooming in SH2K, I got my butt kicked the other wk & told “you have to do it sometime so start now”.

So excited for Fall TT!!!!!!!

@Kat Not looking forward to wiping myself out there or to be stressed out with the dialogue, so yes, start now and hopefully it will pay off later. The dialogue is a challenge for me. I’m not used to memorizing anymore. Oh Fall 2011 TT… we can’t wait to meet you!

You think you’re not used to memorizing anymore? I’m in my 40′s and let me tell ya, I’m having a heck of a time getting into it! but as my husband so aptly put it” when you become committed to it, it will be easy”. So let’s all start being committed ASAP!
Regarding practice, all the teachers and spring trainees I know tell me to be careful near training to not push myself too hard so I don’t get injured or exhausted. It’s a good suggestion:)

I love the term “late-bloomer pose”- especially because Standing Head to Knee is mine, too! Best of luck with all your TT prep!

Oh that is definitely my late bloomer pose as well – good luck I’m sure you will do great!
